Brooke is crawling!

Yes, three posts in one day because I have to tell you Brooke just started crawling tonight! (and yes, she is wearing a "boy" sleeper) The first video we took was much more encouraging, all cheering for her, but this one was shorter to be able to upload here. A few minutes later, she crawled across the room. And that was it, nothing but crawling! I guess we have to do some baby proofing tomorrow...oops, probably should have done that already.

9 month pics and much more!

Brooke is on a Picture People coupon! Well, 5 coupons...and they are actually just referral cards/coupons they gave me after her photo session. (anyone want one?) But doesn't it look like a real coupon? Wouldn't you see this and think..."what a cute baby! I should get my kid's picture taken there!" She was entered in the portrait contest (along with thousands of other kids) and I have no clue when they will reveal the winner. Anyway, 9 month pics and stats coming later in this post... We are very excited about this new park. I can't wait for it to get cooler outside and we can actually go past 8:00 AM without dying of heat!

Fearless Mason...

August was full of fun activity-filled Wednesday nights at church.
This is Mason and Carlton doing a sack race. Mason won...I think both times.
And the three-legged race...

We traveled to visit PawPaw and MiMi.
4 people and a dog.
3 nights, 4 days
1 suitcase, a pack and play, and a laundry basket full of random (mostly baby)stuff...impressive?? I think so.
Yes, 10 minutes down the road, the basket fell on top of Bailey.
We had to stop and rearrange.
Ready to go
We made it. The trip was so long (9.5 hours) that Brooke got a new tooth on the road.
breakfast...
practicing standing...
She wants to crawl! Just can't quite figure it out yet.
Back at home, Brooke is becoming more interested in playing with big girl toys.

And she and Bailey are finally becoming acquainted. Mason and Bailey were two peas in a pod from the day we brought him home from the hospital...but Brooke and Bailey really haven't even acknowledged each other since the last few weeks.
"Read to Brooke" time...my idea to get Mason more interested in reading other than at bedtime.

We took Mason roller skating for the first time. He spent most of the time on the floor...
...until he decided it would be more fun to take off his roller skates and run as fast as he could around the rink...around and around and around. Not sure if it was against the rules!
I finally tried out a bow on Brooke. She kept it in all day and didn't fuss about it.

In her spare time (which is often)...

Brooke is 9 months old!! We saw her doctor and she is growing, growing, growing (taller)!
Weight: 18 lb, 6 oz (49%...down from 58% at 6 months)...
Height: 27 1/4 inches (40% up from 10% at 6 months!)
These are her "9 month pictures"

the rest of July...

Before I move on to August pictures, these are a few pics from the end of July I wanted to share.

The first two are from a family outing to the pool.

Family Fun...

July was full of family fun! We started the month out with a relaxing 4th of July. Carlton and Mason went swimming in the morning while I stayed at home with Brooke during her nap. Then we all hung out at home (mostly in the a/c) during the day and finished the day off with fireworks that night. It was nice to have Carlton home for a three day weekend.
Here are some pics from the day...

The following weekend, we took a day trip (few hour trip) to Galveston.
Brooke liked the water a lot and Mason liked the sand the best.

I can't believe Brooke is already 8 months old! She turned 8 months on the 20th of July, and she sat on her own for the first time that day. She rolls, turns, and scoots backwards to get anywhere and everywhere. And this week she has started getting up on her knees a little. Mason is still absolutely in love with her and she adores him. She lights up every time he comes in the room and he can make her laugh all day. She does laugh a lot! Brooke is becoming a little more expressive of her wants and likes to have attention (but can still entertain herself for hours). At 8 months, she was up to 6 teeth but is now working hard on 2 more (6 on the top and 2 on the bottom...is that common?)
This is a pic from her 8 month birthday.

A few days later, I took her for 8 month picture session. This is the picture I chose. The rest of them are some of the other pictures from the session.

This past weekend, we took the kids to the circus. I have to say, I think Brooke enjoyed it more than Mason! She smiled and watched intently for a long time before she crashed.
Mason used up all his "sit and watch" time during the pre-show so he had the wiggles during the actual show...imagine that!!

Monday, the kids and I went to Bayou Wildlife Park with one of Mason's friends from preschool and her playgroup. We rode on a tram and fed the animals as we passed them. Mason liked this a lot, but his favorite part of the whole trip was the free pony ride at the end. For anyone in the area, it's a really good deal if you are in a large group...$6 a person including a bucket of food and a free pony ride.

Today, the kids and I went on our yearly trip to Noah's Ark. Mason had a blast on the slide and was able to do the slides and the diving boards in the big pool this year. At Mason's request, I took Brooke down the slide next to him a couple times. I asked the lifeguard if she looked excited or scared on the way down. She said she had a "look of interest". Too bad I don't trust Mason with my digital camera around a pool. I would have asked him to take a picture of us.
