July was full of family fun! We started the month out with a relaxing 4th of July. Carlton and Mason went swimming in the morning while I stayed at home with Brooke during her nap. Then we all hung out at home (mostly in the a/c) during the day and finished the day off with fireworks that night. It was nice to have Carlton home for a three day weekend.
Here are some pics from the day...

Brooke liked the water a lot and Mason liked the sand the best.

I can't believe Brooke is already 8 months old! She turned 8 months on the 20th of July, and she sat on her own for the first time that day. She rolls, turns, and scoots backwards to get anywhere and everywhere. And this week she has started getting up on her knees a little. Mason is still absolutely in love with her and she adores him. She lights up every time he comes in the room and he can make her laugh all day. She does laugh a lot! Brooke is becoming a little more expressive of her wants and likes to have attention (but can still entertain herself for hours). At 8 months, she was up to 6 teeth but is now working hard on 2 more (6 on the top and 2 on the bottom...is that common?)

This is a pic from her 8 month birthday.
A few days later, I took her for 8 month picture session. This is the picture I chose. The rest of them are some of the other pictures from the session.

This past weekend, we took the kids to the circus. I have to say, I think Brooke enjoyed it more than Mason! She smiled and watched intently for a long time before she crashed.

Mason used up all his "sit and watch" time during the pre-show so he had the wiggles during the actual show...imagine that!!

Monday, the kids and I went to Bayou Wildlife Park with one of Mason's friends from preschool and her playgroup. We rode on a tram and fed the animals as we passed them. Mason liked this a lot, but his favorite part of the whole trip was the free pony ride at the end. For anyone in the area, it's a really good deal if you are in a large group...$6 a person including a bucket of food and a free pony ride.

Today, the kids and I went on our yearly trip to Noah's Ark. Mason had a blast on the slide and was able to do the slides and the diving boards in the big pool this year. At Mason's request, I took Brooke down the slide next to him a couple times. I asked the lifeguard if she looked excited or scared on the way down. She said she had a "look of interest". Too bad I don't trust Mason with my digital camera around a pool. I would have asked him to take a picture of us.
